DTVS-SMART1 / Full software recovery

The following instructions are prepared for those who wish to completely wipe their DTVS-SMART1 and reload all the software. This process can also be used to recover the DTVS-SMART1 from serious software failure to improper shutdown or rouge software corrupting the units memory. If your machine does not start up after a very long period, then it is possible that the units has corrupt software or memory. Carry out the following to recover your unit:

** NOTE: USE THIS PROCEDURE FOR SOFTWARE VERSION BELOW 1.5.6 **

1. Download software version 1.4.9 via the following link: http://www.dtvs.co.nz/download/dtvssmart1/firmware/149.zip
2. Extract the file "NTOBE-S_UPGRADE.BIN" to the root directory of a USB memory key
3. Shut down the DTVS-SMART1 and then insert the USB key into the USB1 slot (at the back). Please ensure no other USB devices are attached.
4. Start the DTVS-SMART1 and then immediately press the RED button until the "Recovery Menu" appears.
5. Select Option 3 and then Option 3 again and the 1 (yes) to clear all partitions
6. The receiver will restart and begin loading software version 1.4.9
7. Software version 1.4.9 will allow your receiver to be recovered to a working state. You will then need to upgrade to the latest software version
8. Download the latest software version from the DTV Solutions forum
9. Extract the file "NTOBE-S_UPGRADE.BIN" to the root directory of a USB memory key replacing any other version
10. Shut down the DTVS-SMART1 and then insert the USB key into the USB1 slot (at the back). Please ensure no other USB devices are attached.
11. Start the DTVS-SMART1 and then immediately press the BLUE button until the "upgrade.." message appears.
12. Allow the upgrade to proceed
13. Once upgraded, press MENU and then go SYSTEM and select "Factory Reset"
14. Your receiver will now start up and will show the Initial Setup Menu. Carry out the installation as normal.
15. Load other Android applications needed via "DefaultApps" application

DTVS-SMART1 / Android Smartphone Remote Control Application

The Android version of the DTVS-Smart1 remote control application can be downloaded to your Android Smartphone via the Google Playstore. Search the Google Playstore for iSmartRCU by Innodigital Inc.

The iSmartRCU connects to the DTVS-Smart1 via the local network and has many features including transfer of application from your Android smartphone to DTVS-Smart1.

DTVS-SMART1 / YouTube not working - FIXED

Google has made some changes to the API's which has made the supplied YouTube application redundant. A new application is now available and should automatically update the YouTube application to the new one.

If the YouTube application does not update, then you can install the latest version via the DefaultApps application. Follow these steps:

1) Press the GREEN button to enter the Applications Menu
2) Select DefaultApps
3) Wait until the list of applications appear. Note, sometimes it can take up to 5 mins for the screen to appear.
4) Select Download under YouTube

The application will be updated. You can then exit the DefaultApps application and execute the new YouTube Application.

DTVS-DSR1 / Latest firmware DTVS-DSR1 011B

Instructions on how to install the software are below:

1. Download and extract the contents to the root directory of a USB memory key. Extracted contents will be in the directory \DTVS-DSR1.
2. Turn the Power OFF to the unit.
3. Insert the USB memory key in the USB slot
4. Turn the power on to DTVS-DSR1 while repeatedly pressing the MENU button on the DTVS-DSR1 Remote control.
5. The USB Upgrade screen will appear and the software will begin updating
6. Once the upgrade is complete, the receiver will restart.
7. Your DTVS-DSR1 is now upgraded. Remove the USB memory key and begin using your DTVS-DSR1.

We are releasing software for the DTVS-DSR2 MyFreeview receivers for those customers who would like to load it.

Changes included in this software release:

1. Improvements to channel tuning. Prime, TV3 etc..

Instructions on how to install the software are below:

1. Download and extract the contents to the root directory of a USB memory key. Extracted contents will be in the directory \DTVS-DSR2.
2. Turn the Power OFF using the power switch at the back of your DTVS-DSR2
3. Insert the USB memory key in the USB slot at the back marked "UPGRADE ONLY"
4. Turn the power on to DTVS-DSR2 while repeatedly pressing the MENU button on the DTVS-DSR2 Remote control.
5. The USB Upgrade screen will appear and the software will begin updating
6. Once the upgrade is complete, the receiver will restart.
7. Your DTVS-DSR2 is now upgraded. Remove the USB memory key and begin using your DTVS-DSR2.

Users of the Vantage HD6000T/NZ may experience tuning issues on some multiplexers. The following channels files can be used to force load channels on the Vantage HD6000T/NZ. Please ensure that you have software version 2.59T loaded on your receiver.

Select the file that matches the transmitter site from which the signal is received on your Vantage HD6000T/NZ and follow the instructions:

After downloading, please unzip the contents of the file so that you get a file with a ".si" extension.

Instructions on how to load:


1) Press the Menu button
2) Navigate through the menu and file "Delete All Channels" and press OK
3) Select "yes" to confirm you want to delete all channels
4) Insert USB stick containing the channel data
5) Navigate to USB1
6) Locate the channel data file and while highlighted press the OK button to upgrade
7) Channels will be loaded

DTVS-SMART1 / Remote not responding

If your remote has stopped responding it may be possible that RF paring is lost. You can use the following method to pair the remote again:

1) Restart the unit.
2) Wait till the DTVS logo shows.
3) Press the paring buttons simultaneously (bottom left and bottom right buttons)
4) The red light on the remote will flash and then you should see the receiver responding
5) Release the buttons

You can also use this method for replacement remotes or additional remotes.

DTVS-SMART1 / Accessing content on a NAS drive

The media player on the DTVS-Smart1 is not designed to access content on a NAS drive. However it is possible to access a NAS drive via a file manager application. You can load a "File Manager" application like "File Manager HD" and connect to the NAS drive. Once connected you can click on the file you want to play via the media player.

DTVS-SMART1 / Sideloading XBMC

Some users have been attempting to sideload XBMC on the DTVS-Smart1. A compiled version of XBMC is available for the DTVS-Smart1 which is available via the "DefaultApps" applications. Please load this version instead of one from the internet. To load:

1. Go to Applications list (Green button)
2. Select "DefaultApps". Clear any advertising banners that appear.
3. Select XBMC download
4. Repeat step 3 if download fails.
