DTVS-Smart1 Walkthrough - Part 2

In this part of the walkthrough, we will provide an overview of the applications included with the DTVS-Smart1. In our design of this set top box, we made changes to allow the end users the flexibility to load and remove applications. The DTVS-Smart1 is more like a PC or Tablet than the standard set top box. It can be a standard set top box with Freeview/FTA satellite television access or it can be enhanced by loading Android applications and can be as complex as you want it to be.

As a start, we have developed and included a rich set of applications that can be used straight out of the box. We will provide a description of each application in this section. Some of the more advanced applications will have their own section where we will offer more detailed information.

1.0  APK Installer

The "APK Installer" is used to install Android software packages. You can use this installer to load your custom developed Android software or other Android software available as a package to load. Android software package file names usually have an extension of ".apk".

The "Browser" is used to browse the world wide web. For the more technical the browser supplied is Webkit based and supports flash playback. To make browsing easier, we have supplied a remote control that allows browsing and has a full keyboard. Use the "yellow" and "blue" buttons on the remote control to scroll up and down the page. Use the "+" and the optical pad to drag the page up and down. While browsing you can also zoom in and out on a page by pressing the red and green buttons.

DTVS-1B / Universal Remote Control Codes
« Last post by admin on October 13, 2013, 08:59:05 am »

We have received many requests for universal remote control codes. We are not aware of such a code made available to us. For those who want to use a universal remote, we suggest that you get a learning remote like the Logitech Harmony series which can learn the codes.

DTVS-DSR2 / Recording on PRIME via Freeview EPG (Updated 28 May 2014)
« Last post by admin on October 09, 2013, 07:59:48 am »
After the recent changes in the channel arrangements users will find recording on the PRIME channel via the Freeview EPG may not work. This is because there is some key information required by the recorder no longer transmitted. We are working on getting new software to make this work and will release once it is available to us.

In the meantime, recording is still possible via the Wakeup Timer function. Wakeup Timer is available via the "User Settings" menu. Once set, the timer booking will show in the "Record List".

Alternatively, you can still record via the Freeview EPG by using the following method:

1) Change your channel to TV One
2) Bring up the Freeview Guide
3) While in the Freeview Guide, navigate to the guide for the Prime channel or enter 10, to switch the guide to Prime.
4) Navigate to the programme you want to record and book it.
